Teen Workers: Real Jobs, Real Risks (DVD)

This video introduces teens to information they need to know about their rights and responsibilities on the job. Working teens share their thoughts on why safety and health on the job are important for young workers. One teen tells her own story of being seriously injured at her first job, and how this experience impacts her life. Health and Safety Awareness for Working Teens Curriculum

This flexible curriculum for students in grades 9-12 provides teens with basic information about workplace health and safety for those students who will be working in non-agricultural jobs. The curriculum is appropriate for a wide range of career and technical education courses. This flexible five-unit curriculum is composed of age appropriate actives and lessons.

Topics covered include:

  • Identifying hazards in the workplace
  • Child labor regulations
  • Developing solutions to reduce and eliminate hazards
  • Communicating with your supervisor to solve health and safety issues
  • Dealing with sexual harassment in the workplace

Health and Safety Awareness for Working Teens In Agriculture Curriculum

This curriculum was developed to teach students in grades 9-12 introductory information about workplace health and safety in an agricultural work environment. This flexible five-unit curriculum adressess the unique job hazards found in an agriculture work setting. The curriculum is composed of interactive age appropriate lessions that help engage students in learning about topics such as:

School Wood Shop Health and Safety

This training web site has information for students on how to work safely with wood shop tools and informtion on general shop safety practices. Wood shop teacher resources are are also available on this site.

Workplace Ergonomics and Healthy Computing for Teenagers

This lesson introduces students to the basic concepts of ergonomics. the lesson includes activities to demonstrate ergonomics concepts when working with computers.
